Technical Writer III


Summary:

Our company is seeking a Technical Writer to author and edit our industry-leading technology for developers all over the world. Our team teaches some of the world’s most brilliant engineers how to develop for some of the most exciting technologies around. Help us educate developers on how to build groundbreaking and delightful applications in our ecosystem. Our ideal candidate will have a demonstrated track record of effectively capturing and communicating technical information related to software products (API/SDK) and development procedures. 

Responsibilities: 
  • Create and maintain SDK documentation for developer.oculus.com.
  • Work closely with engineering, product, and support teams to ensure quality and accuracy of content.
  • Design, draft, and edit technical and process documentation.
  • Support the release and adoption of software.
  • Support multiple programming languages and development platforms.
  • Create and maintain code samples and sample applications, as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • 3+ years of experience authoring technical documentation for an engineering audience.
  • Experience with programming languages like C++, or similar.
  • Experience working with markdown content formatting.
  • Experience interpreting example code so that it can be explained to users.
  • Experience using source control to manage and publish content.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • BA/BS in Computer Science or English or equivalent work experience.
  • Familiarity with game engine development (Unity, Unreal).
  • Familiarity with VR/MR concepts and technologies.
  • Established record of strong project ownership, project management, and self-direction.
  • Able to collaborate effectively across multiple teams and coordinate deadlines.
  • Able to assist in the automation of documentation processes.
  • Writing samples are required. Please include with resume submittal.

 

Pay range is $44 - $49 per hour with full benefits available, including paid time off, medical/dental/vision/life insurance, 401K, parental leave, and more. Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. Pay is based on several factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
