Pay range is $83 - $88 per hour with full benefits available, including paid time off, medical/dental/vision/life insurance, 401K, parental leave, and more. Technical Project Manager IV

Summary:
The main function of the Technical Project Manager for the Compliance & Privacy team is to lead key projects around protecting user privacy and complying with global regulations for messaging and calling, with cross-company stakeholders. The Compliance/Privacy TPM stands at the intersection of privacy, process, and product. In this role, the TPM will need to balance all 3 while keeping user, regulator and company considerations in mind. The TPM will ensure products meet our company’s aspirational bar for privacy while balancing trade-offs appropriately. The ideal candidate will understand and synthesize competing perspectives in order to arrive at the best possible outcome for people, regulators and the company. The ability to strategically communicate to the team, and the organization balancing data and detail with narrative so that non technical or privacy experts understand our progress and its impact on company objectives.

The role is product-adjacent and interacts with nearly every Messaging product launch. It’s an opportunity to work at the apogee of product management for consumer products that help billions of people communicate every day.

Drive impact as the role has a front seat for almost every user-facing launch in Messenger

Job Responsibilities:
  • Work on company-wide, high-impact initiatives for responsible data use and drive the strategy and execution for the privacy-preserving future of messaging platform
  • Analyze technology, resource needs, and market and regulatory demand to develop strong project plans
  • Manage cross-functional projects with marketing, product, engineering, legal, policy and leadership teams to achieve goals; monitor and regularly report the progress
  • Support technical implementations with engineers
  • Be the privacy product expert for the Messenger organization to consult and influence various projects
  • Privacy Product Group Review Efficacy & Privacy Advocates Project Support. Bug Triage (Remediation) Support.
Skills:
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills; ability to rally many stakeholders to achieve goals in significant ambiguity.
  • Ability to work independently with strong personal motivation and ownership. Able to influence stakeholders even when the ask goes against their team’s goals.
  • Adept with desktop and cloud-based apps such as Microsoft Excel, Google Workspace (Google Docs) and project management tools
  • Strong knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, and product development methods.
  • Strong program management skills demonstrated with industry practices including PMP, Waterfall, Agile. Can
  • Ability to understand technical architecture or code web, mobile app, and database applications
  • Passion and past experience in data privacy, security, compliance and user safety (trust, well being)
  • Past work experience in technology companies or product development functions preferred
Top 3 Hard Skills:
  1. Technical knowledge (IT or computer science degree or demonstrated track record) - ability to understand complex systems architecture and perform data queries and analyze data to inform business decisions using off the shelf and internal query and reporting tools.
  2. Demonstrated ability to translate complex business requirements (e.g. privacy regulations) into actionable product requirements
  3. Communication - impeccable written and verbal communication. Ability to tailor communication to the audience’s level of understanding (Leadership, Engineer, product, expert, novice)
Good to have skills:
  1. Compliance and privacy, and legal policy.
  2. Operating in ambiguity - thrives in complex and hard-to-understand spaces. Brings order and clarity to chaos and opacity.
  3. Initiative - Doesn’t wait for orders. Ideal candidate thrives taking initiative to solve problems without being asked.
Qualifications:
  • Ideally has 10 years industry experience. Will consider strong candidates with 5 years experience.
  • Measurement is specific to CW project outcomes and OKRs. For example, this candidate will drive increasing the number of privacy reviews completed within 30 days. The candidate is also expected to be able to set and establish metrics for their assigned projects.
  • BA/BS minimum. MS or MBA preferred.
