Pay range is $43 - $48 per hour with full benefits available, including paid time off, medical/dental/vision/life insurance, 401K, parental leave, and more. Localization Program Manager I


Summary:

Languages are key to our mission of bringing the world closer together. Our family of products is currently available in 100+ languages and we are adding many more. Over 70% of people use our products in a language other than English, and ~90% are outside of North America. As a Localization Program Manager, you will partner with product and the rest of internationalization teams to empower our products to feel local at a global scale.

The Localization Team will be taking care of WhatsApp as a product in particular. The ideal candidate will localize content for WhatsApp in more than 64 languages.

The ideal candidate will be working with the localization team, learning how to build strategies and work with great talent within the team! There will be lots of opportunities to learn from top talent. The ideal candidate will be coordinating and collaborating with lots of stakeholders and team members, project coordinators.

Responsibilities:
  • Engage and build relationships with cross-functional teams and stakeholders (Product, Engineering, Marketing, etc.) to launch successful localized products
  • Design and implement efficient and scalable end-to-end localization frameworks tailored to various products and diverse content types 
  • Guide stakeholders to ensure localization best practices are followed and drive efficient execution
  • Proactively identify and streamline technical and process issues that affect localized product relevancy, quality, and functionality
  • Actively seek out opportunities to optimize the international user experience and influence adoptions of optimal solutions
  • Partner across internationalization to ensure the right resources are in place and all deliveries are completed at the expected standards

Performance Measurement:

There will be a given defined process to follow. The individual will be working on something already established and performance will be measured based on response time and how well they are able to communicate with stakeholders.

Must-Have Skills:
  • 3+ years of experience in localization, or equivalent project management or program management experience
  • Experience communicating across and driving results among a variety of cross-functional stakeholders, working across time zones and international offices
  • Experience analyzing and interpreting complex data sets to inform business decisions
  • Skilled in building and optimizing complex workflows (at least worked on even if not built)

Look for people who have worked on Localization QA, product localization – testing, quality audits

Nice-to-Have:
  • Knowledge of additional languages other than English
  • Thorough understanding of translation technologies like translation memories, machine translation, and CAT tools
  • Familiarity with internationalization standards such as Unicode and CLDR
  • Experience working with localization vendors
  • Knowledge of AI technologies and potential application in localization workflows
  • Any experience with data analysis
  • Analyzing and look through workflows and come back with insights
  • Ability to work with data

Soft Skills:
  • Strong verbal and written communication is a must
  • Track record of staying focused, prioritizing, and creating structure across large, ambiguous programs and setting goals for long-term initiatives
  • Self-driven, organized, bring their personality and individuality
  • Self-motivated to learn and be proactive

Educational Requirements:
  • BA/BS or 2+ years equivalent work experience in localization, internationalization, project management, or program management

  • 2nd round: split into 2 sessions of 30 minutes each, preferably same day, one after the other
