Job Title: Network Operations Center Engineer

People who join our teams are passionate about learning innovative technologies and solving issues in a rapidly growing environment. The challenges we are facing right now are five years ahead of other IT companies due to the scale and growth pace.
For our Client, one of the leading retailers in North America, we are establishing a Network Operations Center (NOC). The NOC will provide top quality services in the area of network infrastructure management, monitoring, proactive engineering, reporting, and problem/issue resolution. We will operate in 3 locations across the globe to assure 24/7 support. Our scope of work will start at gateway routers in stores and other remote locations and reach to the core of Client’s network.
We expect our team to be able to build and maintain processes, documentation, and procedures that will allow NOC to grow and expand the scope of its operations. Extensive tooling development is expected in the first 6-12 months, including integration with existing Client infrastructure. We will also provide the Client with reliable reporting to better track SLAs, identify usage and fail patterns, and plan for future growth.

Responsibilities:
- Maintaining and administering computer networks and related computing environments including systems software, applications software, hardware, and configurations
- Performing disaster recovery operations and data backups when required
- Protecting data, software, and hardware by coordinating, planning, and implementing network security measures.
- Troubleshooting, diagnosing, and resolving hardware, software, and other network and system problems
- Monitoring network performance to determine if adjustments need to be made
- Conferring with network users about solving existing system problems
- Configure and install various network devices and services (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, VPN, QoS)
- Perform network maintenance and system upgrades including service packs, patches, hot fixes and security configurations
- Monitor performance and ensure system availability and reliability
- Monitor system resource utilization, trending, and capacity planning
- Provide Level-2/3 support and troubleshooting to resolve issues
- Work within established configuration and change management policies to ensure awareness, approval and success of changes made to the network infrastructure
- Select and implement security tools, policies, and procedures in conjunction with the company’s security team
- Cooperate with other team members to design and implement new tools or improvements in existing tools
- Liaise with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution
- Participate in 24x7x365 on-call rotation
Requirements:
- Proven hands-on network engineering experience
- CCNP or higher (CCIE and/or CISSP highly valued)
- Deep understanding of networking protocols (e.g., IPSEC, HSRP, BGP, OSPF, 802.11, QoS)
- Solid understanding of the OSI or TCP/IP model
- Hands-on experience with monitoring, network diagnostic and network analytics tools
- Familiarity with network monitoring and management tools, such as Nagios, SolarWinds, PRTG, or similar tools
- Understanding of security principles and practices, including firewall configurations and intrusion detection systems.
- Experience with scripting languages (Python, PowerShell) for automation and network tasks, experience with deployment automation tools (e.g. Chef, Puppet, Ansible)
- Familiarity with network security practices and tools
- Experience with incident management and ticketing systems
- Ability to create accurate network diagrams and documentation for design and planning network communication systems
- Ability to quickly learn new or unfamiliar technology and products using documentation and internet resources
- Solid understanding of server and operating system concepts (Windows, Linux)
- Strong problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve network issues effectively
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for clear communication with team members and stakeholders
- Ability to work under pressure and handle urgent situations calmly
- Attention to detail and the ability to follow established processes and procedures
- Collaborative attitude to work effectively within a team environment
- University degree in Computer Science or a related subject
