We are seeking a Principal-level Product Designer (Contract Worker) to join the Wearables Design Core UX team, filling in for a team member on leave. Ideal candidates have 8+ years of experience and demonstrate proficiency across all Product Design (PD) responsibilities. This role is critical to maintaining the quality and consistency of our wearable device experiences. The contract duration is 3 months, with an immediate start preferred. Extension of the contract is possible depending on need and performance.

Responsibilities:
- Own projects from concept to launch, ensuring high-quality execution and alignment with product goals for wearable devices.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional partners to define problems, explore solutions, and deliver impactful user experiences across hardware and software.
- Contribute to and evolve design systems, system patterns, and best practices for wearables.
- Communicate design rationale and decisions to stakeholders at all levels, driving adoption and alignment.
- Adapt quickly to changing priorities and business needs, maintaining momentum on critical initiatives.
- Uphold and advocate for accessibility, inclusion, and user-centricity in all design work.
Skillsets:
Wearables-Specific Product Design Skills:
- End-to-end product design for wearable devices
- Advanced interaction and visual design, with a focus on small-screen and hardware constraints
- Systems thinking: building, maintaining, and evolving design systems, components, and patterns for wearables
- Data-driven design decision-making, including user research and usability testing for hardware/software experiences
- Accessibility and inclusive design for diverse user groups and device form factors
- Rapid iteration and feedback incorporation in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment
Collaboration & Leadership:
- Cross-functional partnership with Product, Engineering, Research, Hardware, and other teams
- Stakeholder management and influence capability at all levels
- Building strong relationships with XFN partners to solve issues and maintain a high bar for quality
- Defining and refining the visual language and user experience for wearable devices
- Driving alignment on design direction and priorities across multiple device form factors
- Navigating ambiguity and complex problem spaces, especially in 0?1 product development
- Advocating for user-centric solutions and building empathy with consumers
Qualifications:
- 8+ years of professional experience in Product Design, with a portfolio demonstrating impact at scale, ideally in wearables or hardware/software integration
- Proven track record of shipping high-quality products in fast-paced environments, including 0?1 product launches
- Mastery of product design tools (Figma, prototyping tools)
- Experience building and maintaining design systems and operating systems for large organizations
- Excellent communication, presentation, and storytelling skills
- Ability to work independently and drive projects forward with minimal oversight
- Familiarity with our design principles and product ecosystem (preferred)
- Bonus skills: Experience with 3D tools (e.g., Unity), wearable products, or AI/ML modeling for wearables
