Research Assistant II


At our company, our goal is to explore, innovate and design novel interfaces and hardware subsystems for the next generation of virtual, augmented, and mixed reality experiences. We are looking for a motivated research assistant to join our team, whose mission is to create and apply scientific knowledge about the cognitive system to improve human experiences in virtual reality. We are specifically looking for candidates with experience in supporting human behavioral experiments. Our team of researchers is identifying cognitively-inspired solutions for human computer interaction. The chosen candidates will work with a diverse and highly interdisciplinary team of researchers and engineers and will have access to cutting edge technology, resources, and testing facilities.

Responsibilities:
  • Stage, set up, and/or manage equipment and lab spaces to be used for experiments
  • Conduct experiments which include collection of informed consent, running experiment protocols, handling of confidential data, data annotation, and creation of basic reports
  • Conduct literature reviews on a wide field of research topics
  • Assist with recruiting and scheduling of experiment participants
  • Help with experimental design and provide feedback during design

Required Characteristics:
  • Holds a bachelor’s degree in the field of psychology, cognitive science, HCI, or related areas
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and personal management skills
  • Minimum 1 years of experience working in a research environment involving human subjects

Desired Characteristics:
  • Advanced degree (MA, doctoral student)
  • Experience analyzing data and/or designing research protocols
  • Experience collecting user interaction data and working with related technical equipment (e.g., inertial sensing with IMUs, optical sensing, EMG)
