Research Engineer HCI / AR Input

Summary:

At our company, our goal is to explore, innovate and design novel interfaces and hardware subsystems for the next generation of virtual, augmented, and mixed reality experiences. We are looking for a skilled and motivated Research Engineer to join us in our mission to research new AR input devices. The ideal candidate is excited to apply data science and scientific computing skills to new technology areas, demonstrates a strong attention to detail, and can work with a team of researchers pushing the boundaries of HCI input. More broadly, the chosen candidate will work with a diverse and highly interdisciplinary team of researchers and engineers and will have access to cutting edge technology, resources, and testing facilities.

Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate and communicate effectively with research scientists and hardware/software engineers on experimental analysis approaches.
  • Design, implement, maintain, and apply a suite of experimental data processing tools to address novel research questions in the field.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Masters degree or equivalent practical experience in Computer Science, Biomedical Engineering, Data science, or related technical field
  • 2+ years experience applying signal processing and statistical approaches to test hypotheses with noisy sensor data
  • Proficiency in Python and software best practices, including code reviews and version control
  • Must obtain work authorization in country of employment at the time of hire, and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment

Preferred Qualifications:
  • PhD degree, enrollment in PhD program, or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Biomedical Engineering, Data Science, or related technical field
  • Experience summarizing and presenting results from large noisy datasets
  • Experience optimizing/parallelizing large analysis flows
  • Experience with C++ and systems programming, e.g. networking, multi-threading
  • Strong communication and personal management skills

 

Pay range is $54 - $59 per hour with full benefits available, including paid time off, medical/dental/vision/life insurance, 401K, parental leave, and more. Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. Pay is based on several factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
