Software Engineer V / Research Engineer

Summary:

At our company, our goal is to explore, innovate and design novel user interfaces for the next generation of virtual, augmented, and mixed reality experiences. Our team is evaluating novel interaction techniques and user interfaces to improve human experiences in the augmented world. We are seeking a candidate for a research engineer able to work at the intersection between human-computer interactions and artificial intelligence.

Responsibilities:
  • Build and maintain software to support research projects that advance the team's research roadmap.
  • Design, build, and test a wide range of software systems (e.g., building research systems, backend development, data analysis, interfacing with machine learning and deep learning models, computer vision, signal processing).
  • Collaborate with other researchers and engineers in the various phases of the research project (i.e., ideation, experimental design, data analysis and result sharing).

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science or related field.
  • 3+ years of professional experience with Python, developing reliable and maintainable software systems.
  • 3+ years of professional experience utilizing general software engineering skills, including debugging, version control, logging, documentation, code review, etc.
  • Proficiency in at least one other programming language, such as C++ or C#
  • Professional experience working with Computer Vision or other Machine Learning models (e.g., running models, interpreting outputs, integrating them into systems or prototypes, etc.)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including cross-group collaboration and cross-culture collaboration.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with Unity and C#.
  • Experience with augmented and virtual reality (AR/VR).
  • Experience with React/React Native.
  • Experience working with sensors, wearable devices, input device signals/data.

 

Pay range is $87 - $92 per hour with full benefits available, including paid time off, medical/dental/vision/life insurance, 401K, parental leave, and more. Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. Pay is based on several factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
