  • Develop, maintain and bridge taxonomies, metadata models and classification schemas across products and teams
  • Maintain and improve the quality of a taxonomy space with more than 50, 000 items
  • Collaborate closely with engineers, product managers and other partners to implement taxonomy recommendations
  • Partner with product teams, terminologists, localization and taxonomists across Facebook to assess the current content experience and determine immediate and long-term opportunities
  • Define and evangelize best practices to taxonomists and product partners
  • Identify opportunities within current product space that specifically leverage taxonomy to move product goals and metrics.
    • 5+ years of applicable work experience leveraging technology across many processes to enable automation
    • Experience building taxonomies, terminology databases, and thesauri
    • Experience with information modeling, data diagramming, and content optimization
    • Demonstrated experience with XML and SQL
    • Demonstrated analytical skills
    • Experience in product managing scalable systems
    • Ability to present IA concepts and deliverables in a compelling and convincing manner
    • Ability to translate business needs into long-term IA solutions
    • Excellent written and spoken communication

Skills:

  • Familiarity with employment terms and taxonomies, particularly terms from the Department of Labor’ s O*NET system and the Standard Occupational Classification (SOC) codes from the Bureau of Labor Statistics
  • Experience designing, implementing and managing ontologies
  • Demonstrated project/program management skills

Education:

Preferred: 
  • Master' s degree in Library or Information Science or another relevant discipline
